Habitat 67 is located in Montreal, Canada. This stunning architectural landmark was built in 1967 (no surprise there) and offers an alternative to modern, communal apartment blocks.
Though Habitat 67 appears to have been styled in a similar vein to other brutalist buildings, the architect himself declared it as “a reaction against brutalism”.
Israeli architect Moshe Safdie came up with the idea for Habitat 67 for his Master’s thesis. He envisioned a place where residents could each have access to uniquely designed living spaces, a garden, and fresh air.
Safdie still owns a penthouse apartment in the building to this day. But unfortunately for us, the cost of an apartment ranges anywhere from $585,000 – $1,000,000!
