The California state capital draws its fair share of business travelers and visitors who are in-the-know about the city’s cultural awakening. Sacramento has more than 30 miles of bike trails to beckon outdoor enthusiasts, fantastic locally sourced restaurants, annual events such as “farm-to-fork” week and about 200 wineries that can be explored in the surrounding area. The hotel scene is just starting to expand, but there are plenty of comfortable digs to call home for a few days. Here are the best hotels in Sacramento.

Guests can unwind in the outdoor pool and lounge area or indoors by the cozy lobby fireplace. An on-site restaurant and bar serves American fare for breakfast or dinner, but there is no shortage of dining options in the surrounding area. Although there are a number of budget hotels in Sacramento, many are less than adequate in terms of service and cleanliness. However, the Best Western Plus Sutter receives rave reviews from TripAdvisor members. It’s a clean, convenient and comfortable choice for budget travelers. The hotel features a lovely pool area, fitness center, included breakfast buffet and free parking. The 94 eco-friendly rooms have beautiful decor, mini refrigerators and microwaves. The hotel is located near the light rail for easy transportation around town, however, light sleepers should request a room in the back of the hotel away from the train noise. Housed in a historic building from the early 1900s, the downtown hotel blends regal decor with modern amenities. Guests can dine at the Grange restaurant and bar, a beautiful two-story space that is one of Sacramento’s most popular restaurants. Several breakfast options are also available (additional charges apply). Political humor can be found in the library and throughout the hotel – including guestrooms.
